Yup, it’s a localhost root selector
I develop web sites using WampServer on my local PC. Two years ago I wrote a utility that allows me to switch between web projects in WampServer without copying files or manually editing the httpd.conf file. This lets me to keep web files with my other client code and documentation in a familiar hierarchy; it simplifies backups and makes it trivial to switch between development tasks for different clients.
I’ve just revised this utility. SiteMaid now makes life even easier. When I change projects it not only rewrites the document root in http.conf; it also restarts Apache and MySQL. It saves time and it’s more consistently accurate than manual entry.
Feel free
SiteMaid is freeware and comes without any warranty. It tries to be benign – it comments out the existing document root entry rather than deleting it – but there are no promises. If it turns into a raging vandal on your computer (or, worse yet, a goth) I’m very sorry, but …
